Lee Montgomery
Writes fiction and non-fiction, poetry and anything else that takes my fancy. An interest in the manipulation of words took hold long before gaining a degree in English with Creative Writing at Huddersfield University (2007) and I now strives to instil a passion for writing in others.
Married with children/grandchildren/great-grandchildren ... but whilst accepting that it is compulsory to grow old I always maintains that there is no law saying I have to grow-up.

Unlocking the Past - Regression Hypnosis
First novel - published May 2018
Blurb ...
Our lives are simply a series of memories, and stories, plus recollections prompted by photographic images, music and places and the interpretations we place on each. In reality we cannot change anything, we cannot undo wrongs or make the bad things go away … but what we can do is rewrite our story to help give it meaning. This is my journey, well sort of … it is mostly about me, well some of it is. It is about people and places around me, the people I know, the people I do not yet know, the people I will never know and the me I am supposed to have been. It’s about skeletons in closets, hidden secrets and hints of revenge. Most of it is true, well some of it is … but then again, maybe none of it is. Available from Amazon - Click HERE |

Why Remember
Grandpa, what is Remembrance Day The thing that’s marked by many A time-honoured two minute silence, you say But it doesn’t affect me any Grandpa why is it the dead are honoured Always in mid November What did they do that changed my life And why do I have to remember Grandpa, why are all the poppies worn By people, young and old What good does it do at the setting sun For old stories to be told Grandpa, why are there war memorials And why is it that I should mourn The fields of red and the unmarked graves Of people from before I was born Grandpa, why is war a glory And battle deaths marked with pride With royalty and politicians Just in it for the ride Grandpa, why do you cry so Are my questions pain for you I don’t understand why things from long ago Are remembered if it makes you blue Grampa sighed, my sweet, sweet darling, life is short But theirs was even less They gave their all so you could live A lifetime free from stress But now the years have passed me by I see that wars transgress The hopes of all that died in vain As the world’s still in a mess So I worry for you great- grandchild Now a soldier, you don’t get lost Serve your country proudly But please don’t pay the ultimate cost Remembrance Day (11th November) |
The Age of the Bra
When I was little I longed for a bra To fill it fully and stand out from afar But as a young girl, with nothing to show It slipped on pre-fastened and I was ready to go. In teenage years with fashions to uphold Cross-your-heart padding made me ever so bold I was nimble then, without too much fat So, fasten from front, and swivel to back. But as the years added the curves with the pounds It would catch and stick and not turn around Action was needed to keep them on track So, I’d stuff them in first and do clasps from the back. Dementia Turn back the clock and dance with me To the music of our youth Gone are memories of today ... Lost within your truth The distance of the fading years Still remain intact A stranger now within your life … I try to bring them back We live as one in separate lives Your mind locked in the past To a time, when we were young at heart And our days were meant to last I’ll wait with you, stay by your side Where else would I go? For although you do not know me now You’re still the one … that I love so I Wonder … Would anyone miss me if I went away? I don’t mean die, just no longer be seen to play What about the people that live on my street Would they be aware if we no longer meet? And as to Facebook, Twitter, or other social media hosts How much notice do people really take of my photos or my posts? Could I just drop out, undetected? Spend life how I choose, and no longer be connected Walk on a beach with sand in my toes Keeping myself to myself … so no one knows That I even exist. |
